Where to begin...let's start with Covid

It’s been a hot minute since you all have heard from me, I know. I finally finished this web site but have never really spent much time here since. I think it’s because I didn’t know where to start. It’s been years since a wrote a blog post. I decided today is the day!

So here’s what’s been happening in my life. I’ll try to keep it brief!

So during Covid my booth business with my daughter was shut down. I couldn’t teach in-person classes and decided to take the plunge and go online with classes. I signed up for Patreon and started to post video classes there, however, Patreon never really took off for me (it was probably all me).

Life happens

In the meantime the old guy in my life was diagnosed with bladder cancer and has gone through major surgery. He’s doing fine currently but it’s not been an easy road getting here. A year after his diagnosis i was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a double mastectomy. I’m happy to say we are both currently cancer-free.

Amid all of that, the well went out so no water and it had to be replaced. The hot water heater and the furnace needed to be replaced along with some kitchen appliances. It’s like they say, ‘When it rains, it pours!’

Then about three years ago our daughter and her husband decided to move South! Following the divorce I expected her to move back home, but she actually likes it there and decided to stay! So now we have two children at least nine hours away.

So I got a part time job at Joann’s and started to build a web site. I’m technically-challenged so it took me a long time and when i finished it I wasn’t sure where to go from there. I think you all know about Joann’s closing so here I am back playing at my web site and trying to figure it all out!

I’m teaching in-person and on-line

I’m in the process of uploading my video on-line classes to my shop for those who do not live local or prefer to work at home. I have quite a few classes in the Scrapbooking and Art Journal categories that I’m uploading so bear with me. This is the first I’m offering in my shop.

I continue to teach in-person classes in my home. Finding affordable studio space around here is never going to happen so I gave up and pushed the furniture back, set up folding tables and invited students in. We have a great time and the coziness of the space makes us all feel like a tight-knit community.

Summer fun in the back yard

With summer months upon us I slow down class offerings. Here in Michigan we all love to be outdoors when we can and I enjoy working in the garden and sitting in the shade listening to the birds and reading a good book.

I miss blogging so I hope to be doing more of it. I’ll throw in some paper crafting tips, art journaling ideas, a little DIY, gardening tips and maybe a recipe every now and then! i miss you all and look forward to hearing from you and reading your comments.
